Gifts for Parents

Before you buy

Parents are the hardest people to buy for because they tend to already own a working version of everything, and they will not replace it while it still functions. That points at a specific kind of gift: the upgrade they would not buy themselves.

The daily-use test. The things that work here are usually the ones used every single day, like the kitchen tool that is genuinely better, the coffee setup that improves the morning, or the chair or bedding that quietly fixes a back. Novelty gifts age badly with this group; daily-use upgrades do not.

Every product comes from a category review where it was picked on its own merits, using spec sheets and the reports of people who have owned the thing for a while. We flag the ones that need setup, a subscription, or a habit change, because those make a harder gift regardless of quality.
