This page is a calendar and a promise. Right now it has the dates that matter for the 2026 shopping season and an explanation of how we cover deals when they land. We are keeping this same URL every year, so bookmark it once and check back as the dates get closer.
How we cover it
Our weekly price sweep re-checks every pick’s estimated range across the site, gift guides included. The Price Index lists every pick’s estimated range, so you can compare a listed price with it and see whether it sits low for that product or is a normal-week price with a sale sticker on it. When we call something a deal, we mean it sits toward the bottom of the pick’s estimated range, not that it is below some manufacturer list price that may never have been a real selling price.
We do not run a live price feed, a countdown timer, a “people are viewing this” counter, or a deal-of-the-day box. Those need infrastructure and a monitoring cadence this site does not have, and a countdown you cannot verify is worse than no countdown at all. What you will find here in November is a plain list: which of our picks are discounted against their normal range, and by how much.
How to tell if a Black Friday price is worth it
We do not score a discount against a manufacturer’s list price, because a list price is frequently list-only fiction that few buyers ever pay. Judge a Black Friday price against the range we already publish on the pick’s own guide instead: a price at or below the bottom of that range is a real deal, and a price in the middle of the range is a normal week with a discount sticker on it. That range is our estimate, re-checked on our weekly sweep, not a live feed.
Picks worth watching this year
A working list pulled from guides we already publish, spanning most departments on the site. Each range is the guide’s own current estimate; the guide link has the full pick, the runners-up and what we compared it against.

What usually drops, what usually doesn’t
Going by past seasons, not every category discounts the same way. This is a pattern from past seasons, not a promise about this year — we will confirm or correct it against what we see in November.
| Pattern | Categories | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Usually the deepest cuts | TVs, wireless earbuds, robot vacuums, air fryers | These see frequent markdowns most of the year and go deeper still around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, partly because so many competing brands chase the same shelf space. |
| Usually not much movement | Brand-new Apple and Nintendo hardware | A new generation rarely gets a real discount in its first holiday season. Demand is high enough that the maker does not need to cut the price, so “deals” on current-generation devices are often bundles or gift cards rather than an actual price cut. |
What we’ll add in November
- Real deals, checked against the estimated range already on each guide — not against a list price.
- Christmas shipping cutoffs by carrier, once they are published.
- A note on which departments moved and which didn’t, once the week is over.
How this page works
We haven’t used the products ourselves. We compile independent lab results, manufacturer specifications and owner reviews, rank on that evidence, and say so. This page will fill in with real deals in November, checked against the price ranges already on each guide. If something here goes stale before then, the corrections page is where the fix gets logged.
